One of my favorite things about winter time is the clothes, I mean there are just so many great pair of boots, jackets & hats. LOVE IT ALL! The only thing is that I’m from California and it doesn’t really get too cold outside. And we are all familiar with those days when it’s cold in the morning, but it gets hot by the afternoon. Let’s face it we Californian’s need to accept the flaws and put our fashion-forward minds to work!
Recently, I was headed to grab breakfast at this super chic and aesthetically pleasing coffee place called Verve Coffee Roasters in LA with my friend Fabiola, which also meant photoshoot time!! So, I slipped into a leather jacket, a white sweater shirt, checkered pants, and slip-on loafers. I was obsessed with my outfit because not only did it look great at VERVE, but it wasn’t too warm or to light for my day, it was perfect!
Let’s begin with this jacket, one of my favorite pieces in my closet hands down. Not only is it fringed beautifully in the back, but the leather (faux) is so smooth and comfortable. In my opinion, bulky one’s can get a bit stiff and you can’t really drape it as nicely over your shoulders in order to achieve the “casual look”. I got this baby last winter at Wilson’s Leather for only $60 and it’s just as new today.
On the other hand, I purchased my white sweater shirt from one of my favorite stores, ZARA last year as well and it was around $20-30. It’s really soft and great quality. I recommend you guys check out this store ASAP because their winter pieces are pretty great! I just really loved how the vertical lines on the sweater looked against the checkered pants, so don’t be afraid to play around with patterns & textures this winter.
For my accessories, I decided to keep things simple. First, I picked my black conductor’s hat that I purchased at Nine West for $22 this past summer for my study abroad trip. To be honest, you could get a Brixton one which is a lot fancier, but If you don’t have $60 to splurge on a hat don’t do it! This one looks just as nice and I have gotten plenty of compliments on it.
Next, I chose my prescription glasses from FIRMOO, which aren’t only super trendy and minimalistic, but actually affordable! So, if you are in need of new and fashion-forward glasses then don’t hesitate to check Firmoo out. They have tons of options and they really are great quality for such a low price. The checkered pants are from Brandy Melville $38 and they are currently in stock right now! These pants are not only really cute and versatile, but they are extremely comfortable.
You can easily dress them up or down and the best part is that they have an elastic band in the back, so you can keep stuffing your face without feeling tight like I did at Verve!
As for the shoes, I snagged these slip-on loafers at Target for just $22! I love them and they make any casual outfit look put together. Seriously, you guys need to stop, click HERE, and go treat yourself to a pair. You won’t regret it!
This bag is another closet favorite because not only is it vintage Gucci, but it’s also my moms. lol. This is one of the first designer bags she ever got herself & it completed my look perfectly!
With these staple pieces not only did I look like I have my life together, but I accomplished an outfit that screamed fashionable yet modern! All that was left was for me to order a Cappuccino with Soy Milk, a Chocolate Chip Banana Bread, and indulge in the deliciousness of it all. As for Fabiola, she ordered that deliciously looking hot cocoa that you see in the picture above. The barista that made it actually came up to us afterward to ask if he could snap a picture lol he was pretty proud himself. Overall, VERVE was so good and the ideal spot to catch up with friends
BUT
don’t think I forgot about my photoshoot! Verve had the coolest wall of greenery that became the perfect backdrop for Instagram worthy shots!
